We are very happy to introduce N/UM! A New York based Minimal, House & Techno influenced trio that uses stringed instruments, voices, analog synthesizers and drum machines. Each performance or recording is improvised, with no pre-composed songs, no plan or structure agreed upon. Inspired by the jazz innovators of the mid to late 20th century, they commit to write a new “suite” with every performance, which necessitates an openness to chance and interaction in a very different style and format. The three members of N/UM come from a variety of musical backgrounds. – Jeremy Loucas is a five time Grammy winning sound engineer and producer with years spent as a DJ in the underground party scene in NY, Elias Meister is a jazz, rock and experimental guitarist and bass player with a decade of performance experience in free and improvised music, and Emil Bovbjerg is a songwriter, vocalist and producer/DJ with a background in orchestration and contemporary arranging and composition.
We also have the honor of releasing their debut album Zebra. The content and form of the music and the arch of the entire set was created in real-time, during a single session in November 2015. Zebra will be released on June 17th, 2016. Check out a little preview of their creative process and sonic capabilities below.
